| duke university Durham, North Carolina The combination of its powerful collegiate gothic architecture and formal open spaces carved out of its woodland setting make Duke University one of the nation’s most picturesque campuses. Lappas + Havener, PA has played an active role in the continuing physical improvement of Duke’s campus since 1997. Each campus design that Lappas + Havener, PA undertakes begins with studying the broader context in which the specific design challenge exists. In this way we are able integrate critical relationships, connections and subtleties that collectively make a great campus. Our design work at Duke includes small area master planning for academic precincts, campus entrance, monumentation and parking studies and detailed plans for new walkways, landscapes and plazas. Site designs for building-related projects include new museum, conference and academic buildings, student residences and athletic facilities. |
