of the arts Winston-Salem, North Carolina The North Carolina School of the Arts is recognized throughout the world as an exceptional training ground for young artists. Since it opened in 1965 as the first state-assisted residential conservatory in the nation, it has offered students in the performing and visual arts an educational experience designed to develop talent, vision and professional excellence. In 1998, Lappas + Havener, PA took the design lead in a seven-year campus-wide revitalization effort that has collectively - through the integration of site elements and idea-based landscape expressions - renewed the campus. Together, the series of interconnected landscapes and building-related site designs now unifies the grounds, bringing together disparate architectural styles and transforming the visual character of the campus. |
