Parade Ground

Airborne and Special Operations Museum
Fayetteville, North Carolina

A 3-block underutilized area of downtown has been transformed by the opening of this national military museum that attracts over 250,000 visitors annually. The site design combines urban streetscape, ceremonial and garden spaces that are design to extend the museum experience into the site. Landscape imagery includes regimented plantings, hedgerows and an open parade ground to enhance the visitor experience. Outside the museum’s central atrium, a walled garden provides space for large gatherings as well as memorial niches and private, contemplative spaces.
