Design excellence is the foundation of Lappas + Havener, PA. We are an idea-oriented design firm, first and foremost. Our plans begin with a generative idea that shapes the conceptual foundation of the design, creates its organizational structure, and expresses itself throughout the design, in its overall form, integration of functional elements, and is ultimately reflected in the selection of materials and final construction detailing. Combined, idea and expression are able to successfully convey a distinctive sense of place.
Placemaking is the art of creating not only pleasant functional spaces, but also memorable spaces. Distinctive and memorable places often blend function with a celebration of the site as a unique place. We think it is possible -- and desirable -- to impart meaning into the designed landscape, utilizing landscape forms in ways that express a connection with the site’s natural setting and cultural context. By connecting natural and constructed environments through design excellence, our projects reflect a sense of stewardship, environmental responsibility and beauty for a more sustainable and friendly society.
